Palm shelf on the grip

Hello everyone,

I'd like to put an ergo grip on my MDT chassis, mostly for the look (typical PSG1 fanboy syndrom) but also because sometimes during shooting sessions I kind of feel like the palm shelf would be helpful for hand placement.

However I've seen a few times shooters being told not to, or even to remove the shelf if they already have one (read that on the hide as well a few days ago)

In practical terms, what are the negative sides of this grip style for shooting and for gun handling ? Can it be that detrimental ?

Putting undesired pressure anywhere on the gun during recoil will have a negative affect on accuracy. If you get one, train yourself not to touch it during firing.

Especially if the force applied is perpendicular to the bore axis
