I am thinking of picking one of these up as the price is right, I like to have a flat top, do not know why just do as I like the looks. Looking at Troy, I see no hand guards rails for that type of gas block, only the A2 and all for 5.56 and only one for 7.62. I would like to have a pic for a bipod, is this possible to do cheaply? I did not have a good cheek feel for the adjusting buttstock either. This will be just a fun gun when leaving the bolt at home, its doubtful I will gucci it more than a rail.

I may forgo all this and just drop the coin on M1A.

Thanks

Re: Panther 7.62 Oracle

I would just get a DPMS free-float handguard for it. You would have to get a new gas block, gas tube, roll pin, and crush washer for the flash hider as well (according to a PM I got about this the DPMS 4-rail handguards act as the barrel nut). Then find someone to swap it out for you for 50$ and a six pack or something.

edit: PRI rail is my favorite but you will pay to get it, 300+$

If you don't want to do all that just throw a scope on it and go play, I've shot one of them before and accuracy was not that bad. With handloads it was hovering between 1-1.5" at 100 yards.

I would also say just go with the DPMS free float rail. They are easy to put on with basic AR tools. Most gunsmiths charge under $50 for this. If you buy direct from DPMS then have them do it when you order the gun. JMHO

Thanks, I was trying to determine which was cheaper and easier, this type flat top or one with a the quad rail all ready on it. Looks to be about a $300 difference between the two.

Thanks again
