PRS Talk pants?

I have done two PRS style matches and I normally just wear blue jeans. I am a bigger guy so sometimes I find it difficult to maneuver and stand in certain ways. Do you guys have any recommendations for pants that are comfortable and easy to maneuver around in?

I’ll second the crye pants. I also wear them and the knee pads do come in handy at times. I have bad knees as well.

I have worn two pair to 6-8 two day matches and similar number of club matches this past year. Still holding up well. Saw last week they had 30% off orders over $100 or $150 with free shipping. Two pair of these big boy prs pants would meet criteria. Lol.

Thanks for the heads up on the Duluth stuff. I'm interested in their trim fit flex fire hose pants. I have a variety of cargo/utility pants and majority are baggy in fit.
My favorite so far have been the 5.11 Apex pants. They are lightweight but not super light and have some flex to them. The crotch length is short as well and not super baggy.

Agreed, they hold up very well and for the price if you trash a pair it's not a huge deal.

I didn't know they had a version with knee pads. I'll have to look them up.

I've been wearing the Atlas style, they take the foam knee pads. There are pockets that the pads slide into. It is a little tricky to roll them up and get them into the pockets...but well worth the effort. The benefit of knee pads in the leg pockets vs something strapped around your leg over the pants is comfort. While the ones that you strap over may/can be more robust and protective, they are also awkward and way too hot in the warmer weather! The foam pads, while thinner, are quite adequate for what we're doing.

I managed to bust a snap off the ankle band of one pair, and TruSpec gave me a brand new pair for free - and that's the only wear you can see on any of the 3 pairs I own. I use both the Duluth firehose flex and the under armour patrol pants. I believe the under armour pants are a little more comfortable, but the Duluth pants will hold up a little better to abuse.

I run the A9A pants from beyond clothing.
Expensive but worth it imo

They have an opening in the knees that you could probably fit a neoprene pad into with a little wiggling. I've been meaning to try it, and just haven't gotten to it yet.

I wear this “style” of pant every day for work, so I have developed some opinions.
From a budget standpoint, the LA Police Gear are hard to beat. Solid pants that won’t break the bank. The 5.11 pants are excellent. Little more $$, but definitely fit great, and have a bit of stretch.
The absolute top tier are the CRYE. I wear them daily, and on top of being incredibly comfortable, they really do wear great. I have a pair that is over two years old, and they are still just perfect. I wear these pants 4-5 days a week as an instructor, so I’m moving, laying down, crawling etc in them. They flat out last. Sure, they’re spendy, but the best usually is. The knee pads are a god send when training. You definitely get used to them. When you drop into a kneeling position the one day you’re NOT wearing your Cryes, you’ll see what I mean. ?
All things considered, if I wasn’t working in them and seriously using them hard, the 5.11 at $75 is a solid choice though.

If it’s raining I’ll wear Sitka Mountain pants with built in knee pads, or Crye G3 pants. The Sitka’s are stretchy, seem to shed water well and more importantly they dry fast. Very similar to the Crye pants in stretch material used. I’m an Ian McCollum type dork, sometimes I’ll go crazy and wear some standard BDU style pants in whatever camouflage pattern a country uses the rifle I’m running. ....yea. I’m that guy.

Used to wear Kuhls that were similar material, but the Kuhls don't seem to last as long. I add kneepads when I need them (which is rarely, so far). They're super stretchy, and provide some wind blocking. They have a DWR, so they'll shed some water in a misty or light rain situation, but they're not waterproof. They're cut generously enough on my thick ass that I can still layer underneath them on cold days.

Another vote for the Kuhls. I religiously wear the Ryder version. They're heavy, but still comfortable in the summer heat and they articulate in all the right places. I own 2 pairs and wear them everyday.

My first set lasted 3 years of everyday wear before the right knee wore through and my conceal carry wore a hole by the ass.

Going to give this brand a try next for strictly muddy range pants.

Any "end users" care to comment on the 511 Stryke pants? with respect to fit? comfort etc, these are a "work" option since we have been using there "base" pants for awhile. I'm wondering how the fabric 'stretches" and how much room there is in the thighs for there "relaxed" fit? Thanks

I ended up with a pair of Sitka Timberline pants. Very comfortable and have held up well.
