I was absent for a long time dealing with a divorce. Got moved and re-established net service. I had apparently forgotten my password. Got a temp emailed to my new address and can obviously log in. Problem is when I go to "edit my profile" and enter a new password it won't change. It shows eighteen little black dots in the password boxes and when I click on submit they come back. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Password issues

I had the same problem awhile back after I had reinstalled Google Chrome. One of the reasons I was getting confused was that I was also counting the dots. Ignore how many dots there are. I think it shows a bunch of dots no matter what your password is.

Re: Password issues

Lowlight told me that the passwords were case sensitive. In other words "IT" was working fine. After that I didn't have any more trouble. Initially I wasted quite some time trying to figure out a password I would have used that would have had the same number of dots lol.

Re: Password issues

The number of dots you see are irrelevant, that has nothing to do with anything.

Having problems logging in, here are some possible reasons and fixes.

1. Incorrect User Name.
You have to use your User name and not your Display name. These are two separate things.  These are case sensitive and must be entered as shown.

2. Incorrect Password
Passwords are case sensitive and must be entered as shown.

3. Browser problem related to using Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer has a known issue with UBB Threads, the software which powers SH.  Because of this IE will randomly block your ability to log on, or stay          logged on.  If you find you cannot log on or you are being logged out try one of the following.
         a. Add Sniper's Hide to your trusted sites in IE
         b. Turn off Protection Mode

If none of the following appears to be working, the next step is to download and use Firefox and Chrome.  Using these browser is a known fix for the problems associated to using Internet Explorer.   Both Firefox & Chrome are free and work better with UBB Threads.
