I am shooting my CZ 452 in 22lr at 300 yards now and want to go farther. I am out of elevation in my scope and am now using mils to get as far as I am. I am using 35 MOA and 2.5 or so mils to make hits at this distance. I need a scope with more elevation. What are my options to shoot past 300 yards?

you could get a differnt base like a 40moa base but might have to be brought to a gunsmith to be tapped for a different base rather than the factory CZ rail for their rings. other wise you get get a us optics or nightforce,S&B,ect. usully have a signifiacant amount of elvation usully between 80-120moa in the higher end scopes.

What scope are you currently running? My Savage 21" bbl w/ 20 MOA base + SWFA SuperSniper 10x42mm get me out to 300 yards w/o any mil holdovers using subsonics.

I am running a Hawke Sidewinder tactical 30 4.4-14x42 with a DIP 20MOA base and Seekins Rings.

i'm not sure if you are already running a MOA base, if not get one.
if you are already running one, el cheapo method: shim the back of your present base with a piece of soda can, trimmed to fit nicely underneath.
add burris moa rings to the moa base.

My gunclub has a 300 yard metal buffalo silhouette fun shoot from a bench with sandbags once every Tuesday evening that I am going to do this spring. I am looking for any kind of long range .22 information from persons who are actually shooting this distance and beyond. I know my rifle will have it's own preformance and ammo preference.

I was using Wolf Match Target but at 300 yards I had to go to CCI Mini Mags. I am using a 6 inch steel plate for this distance and the best I have done so far was 4 hits out of 5 shots. I can't seem to get 5 hits in a row. I have ordered a MGM IPSC target and would like to reach 400 yards but I may have to get a different scope with more elevation since I already have the 20MOA base. The wind has to be just right for this type of accuracy for me though. If it is blowing much at all I might as well forget it and go home.

That is still pretty darn good to get 4 out of 5 hits at 300 yards on 6 inch steel with a 22LR. I'll have to try that with my new Izmash 7-2 Biathlon Basic when I get it. thanks, Dale

I shot again today. Wind was gusting at least 10 mph with what looked like at least two different crosswinds. I basically just wasted a bunch of ammo. I turned my scope out of focus to see the vapor trail. When it hit the second crosswind the bullet would just fly off out of control. It reminded me of a bottle rocket taking off.

i shot my CZ452 varmint out to 200y today w/ a SWFA 10x42 without a 20 MOA base and was no where near running out of internal adjustment.

i shot my CZ452 varmint out to 200y today w/ a SWFA 10x42 without a 20 MOA base and was no where near running out of internal adjustment.

This is what I use on my 22.I don't even need a angled base.It's got 74 IPHY available on the reticle and about 60 on the turrets.Yes I holdover for most of my shooting.

Thanks for the replies. I was out to about 365 this weekend. The results are not to good so far because I could not tell where my rounds were going but I am still determined to reach 400 yards.

Scope height don't matter in the scheme of things for shooting long distances but maybe for coolness appeal it may not be for everyone.

I did a bunch of extended range RF shooting; but since the original novelty wore off, I only do it on rare occasions, to hone and confirm skills.
I did what Top Predator is recommending above, and found that once I had it, I didn't need to change.
My advice is to start with the shims, and stick with them until you have been at it awhile. If you still plan on doing a lot of extreme range RF shooting, go for the base. Otherwise, if you end up like me, maybe you can save the bucks.

I want to get to 400 yds, but after 300 with pretty good luck that 350 is kicking my ass!

The Winequah Gun Club 300 yard .22 LR metal buffalo sihouette fun league is going to start soon. Just to give you an idea of the target size, the standing buffalo outline will fit on a 8.5 by 11 inch standard piece of paper stock. I am going through round selection for my Cooper TRP-1 to see what the rifle really likes for long range work. The Burris insert rings give me the 20 MOA boost I need for the distance along with a Leupold Vari X III 6.5x20 scope.

I am using 45 MOA plus about 4.5 mils. This seems alot for the distance since there have been people on here saying that 42 MOA would make it to 300. Is there something wrong with my scope?
