For those of you have a PCC, what do you have? I have been leaning towards the MPX, but $2k is a lot for a 9mm carbine. Uses will be training and USPSA. I would want to SBR it in the future.

I have a JP, but the most common ones I see are home built. Parts are not expensive and these are used mostly for competition, where the most you lose is points. Keep in mind while SBRs are allowed in the division, "handguns" with braces are not. Must be a carbine.

I have a CZ Scorpion Evo carbine. I really like it. Has ended up being more money than I planned with various HBI upgrades and such, but I still really dig it. Mine is very accurate, and is just a ton of fun to shoot.

I've been running a JP GMR for two years shooting some USPSA and KD steel. 6000 rounds and no issues. I added a magwell to help reloads and an extended mag release button. Also lightened the buffer and buffer spring to suit my 125 PF reloads.

I’ve got a keltec sub2000 9mm in the nightstand on mamas side of the bed. Cost me $300, eaten up everything I’ve fed it, takes glock mags, couldn’t be happier for the level of expectation I had. That said it’s best suited as a truck gun. It lived under my middle split bench compartment until she said she wanted it.

Dedicated as in I leave it on there. No it's not welded, and no it's not a SBR it's a pistol. (Till my sbr stamp comes back)

I have a rugged obsidian 45. How did you pin the suppressor to it? I thought about doing the piston but you could still remove the suppressor. I figured youd have to drill a hole through the actual tube.

I've been closely following all 500 PCC mega-threads on Enos in preparation for a PCC build this winter. It's amazing the amount of information on there. I'll be building mine to mimic my 3 gun rifle to save wear and tear on it while practicing inside of 50-75 yards, but it's probably only a matter of time before I'm shooting it in USPSA and it morphs into something else.

Rainier arms 9mm upper/standard lower with ALG Rail.
Using the KAK Industry mag block adaptor, bcg, and buffer and so far am very happy. It locks back on the last round every time and the bolt catch works like normal. I'm using Colt/Metalform mags. Very happy with its reliability and function. Not too mention it was wayyyyyy cheaper than some of the off the shelf offerings.

I considered JP but after tons of research I decided on specific parts to build exactly what I wanted for a lot less. I am not a single bit disappointed. The Spartan billet receiver set is very nice and the barrel is very accurate. Reliability was my biggest concern with all the AR9 horror story builds I've heard about. This thing doesn't miss a beat

Okay here we go. I have some experience in this realm.
A few years ago i built a 9mm AR for my daughter. I wanted her to learn/know the mechanics of an AR but also knew she was gun shy of 556. I built it on the the colt pattern. Bought a Yankee Hill machine upper/kit and it runs like a sewing machine. No issues what so ever.
Well I think fuck that is fun as hell. But I am not impressed one damn bit with the Colt type mags. They are a bitch to load. So for myself I look into a Glock lower. I end up with a Tresna Defense pistol which I then SBR. It runs flawlessly on FMJ bullets. But has some idiosyncrasies.
Hollow points took some work, aka a lot of work to run. If you do some looking around you will see hollow points are an issue with 9mm AR's. Next the mag release is normal AR but only works with glock Gen3+ mags. Many have mag release entirely on the right side so they work with any glock mag. Also the Last round BHO is activated when the last round is chambered. Once activated it can not be deactivated until the bolt has locked back.
So if on the last round you release the mag and insert fresh mag, it will go bang and lock open. The only way around this is to reload before the mag goes dry.
Many PCC have issue with BHO and JP gen 1 did not have have a BHO.
I shoot one USPSA match a month, and I watch PCC go down all the time. Hell you would shit how many walk up to the line with a dead battery in their optic. I am not sure anyone at the match I shoot is running a BHO anymore. Seams to cause a lot of issues. Other than hollow points the only issue I have had is my BHO. If it fucks up one more time i am removing it. I have close to 10,000 rounds through it. Not one issue with ball ammo.

If you are looking to buy and not tinker then I have to say from observation JP is the only ticket.
I don't own one. Just what I have seen.
Me personally i like to tinker. You learn more that way.
If you tie your shoes and they never come untied then you never learn what to do if they do become untied. I see a lot of guys PCC go down and they have no clue why.

Nice, I did not know there was a mag adapter to use a regular lower. That seems a lot more functional unless you already had a bunch of high capicity glock mags.

I still like the idea of using a Sig MPX. I just don’t know if it’s worth $2k to me plus the $200 NFA tax, optic, and etc. I could buy a lot of .223 ammo for the price of an MPX.

If I could get into a 9mm upper using a standard lower for around $600, that would be worth it to me.

There are these also. It is what I used to build my daughters. I could swap the upper, buffer and pull this out and she would then have 556 (300 BO or any other caliber that fits in the standard AR mag). They are expensive, especially if that mag insert works. I plan to 500 rounds through a gun using the mag insert next week. I will post results.

So, I have 2 JP GMR-13's. I'm over 50,000 rounds on each of them. The first is a 16" barrel with a SiCo Omega 9K on it all the time and the other is a 14.5" pin/weld with the 3 port comp. I MD a local USPSA monthly match and a falling steel match that both have heavy PCC attendance. The 14.5" is a demo/loaner gun provided by JP for the latter of the 2 matches. I also have a 10.5" JP upper for a pistol build after Nationals later this month.

After 2 years of matches and being HEAVILY addicted to PCC, I have seen a LOT of builds / factory guns / clones etc go down. I've handed many shooters the demo / my spare personal JP GMR so they could finish the match when their gun went down. Shooters run anything from 115 factory to 150 grain reloads. JP's cycle it all, clean or dirty...who am I kidding they are always dirty. I wipe off excess carbon with a paper towl and re-apply Mobil 1 every couple thousand rounds. We ran 4 shooters back to back through a 250 round all steel match suppressed and the JP performed flawlessly.

I'd be more than happy to walk you through a build and all the options on the site. Or you can just pick up a pre-built Ready Rifle and have a solid USPSA setup.

The match I attend monthly is small by most standards I would think. 40ish shooters in good weather 20ish in bad. About 1/2 shoot PCC. Right now I just shoot pistol.
But my observations would mimic yours. 2 guys have JPs and I have never seen them fail. Lots of builds go down every match. Normally seems to be an issue with BHO, or was until most removed them. I see feed issues at times. And guys shooting reloads that the power factor does not match the buffer/spring they are using.
It amazes me how many shooters are not really "gun guys". Meaning they shoot but have very little idea how the system works. I have helpped a little but I am the FNG only been doing it for 8 months, while most have been doing it years. So i get ignored some.
As I said in a post above. If you dont want to mess around get a JP.
I may try PCC this winter when the crowd is less and I wont hold the match back as much.

Not to mention their BCG is on sale for $100 too. I was skeptical of the blocks and was torn between a dedicated lower, however I already had and SBR lower and wanted a shorter barrel so I went with the mag block option.

I chopped this Colt back to 10.5 inches, added a Osprey 45 can and a heavy buffer, and she runs like a top. (This pic is obviously the 16 inch)The Colt mags are impossible to load without a LULA, which makes life easy. With the can and Fed 147 HST its a great bedside gun.

CMMG 9", GMR, Uzi SBR

CMMG is utterly reliable (after break-in). GMR eats everything and is smooooth as butter - lots of USPSA matches with this one. Uzi prefers +P+, but does fine with +P with the can. Worst trigger I have ever had on a semi carbine. Though I've had it smoothed up a bit. The Uzi skeleton folding stock may be cool but it chews my face up after more than 10 rounds.

I also have a PSA/mix master. If you don't mind spending the money the GMR is fantastic. MBX makes a very nice one too. Building your own is pretty satisfying, but you may need to tinker more than you think to get it running right.
