I was checking some rifle online and saw this Sako TRG 22 has phosphatized action options vs default blued. But price difference is quite significant. Everything else seems to be the same.

Wonder anything particular with phosphatized action vs the normal blued ones?

Phosphate is a protective coating. Water slicks off of it, and it has a matte black finish.

On the TRG, it coats the barrel and action exterior only. (Does not touch the moving parts.)

Thanks a lot.

So it's mainly for protecting from water, nothing else really special right?

Not sure if it is worth few hundreds extra to have this coating on if not going to shoot in raining or snowing weather?
