My Grandfather served during WWII. Well I discovered recently that he had a hobby. I found about 600 pictures from the Pacific Theater, Hawaii and The United States during the WWII era . Lot's of them have the names of the people in the picture on the back. I thought it would be nice to find the families of these veterans to send them the pictures. Probably not an easy feat. Any Ideas of how to start ( I have some names and ranks on the back.)

Re: Pictures & Finding WWII Vets or Family

Very cool pictures.

Last year, I tracked down a WWII vet whose name was engraved on a revolver I bought. The process of tracking down the veteran's family wasn't that hard. The resulting history I got on the gun was priceless, too.

Regimental/divisional associations are a great help. VFW and the American Legion can also bring resources to bear.

If you can ID units or shoulder patches or if the photos have some units on the back, most of the associations can probably get you some leads.

Hope that's a start.

Great pictures!

Cheers,

Sirhr
