Pillar bedding

Depends, do you have a way to machine the one piece flush with the stock? Can you cut them to contour with the action?

I know that there are thousands if not 10s of thousands installed slightly shallow of the stocks cuts. There is also no reason these slightly undersize pillars won't work in most situations, just not how I personally would want them.

There is a reason the two piece exist.

The pillar is designed to support the action and trigger guard evenly.

I suck at one piece pillar installation, I pay to have it done by someone who has the means and abilities. I can bed an action easily, but I stink at properly installing pillars.

Score High has a very descriptive installation process that explains the whys and how's. Their kit has two piece pillars.

I am not sure either is better or worse just a different approach to the same problem. The idea is when you tighten your action screws it is in the same place every time thus the use of a torque. In theory if you torque it the same every time there is zero give in the stock and no poi shift. That the theory reality is there usually is a little shift at least but minimal. With shooting accurately it is all about constancy. That is in the rifle, the ammo and the person.

The thread together ones like brownells sells are so you can adjust the height properly then epoxy them in they do not screw and unscrew. I am assuming those are the ones you are talking about.

I recommend you find a good gunsmith to pillar bed them and watch him if possable if you want to learn.

If there is any shift movement, it's not right and it's definitely not stress free.
