I am looking for some flat top (no peaked contours) pillars for my Savage Mark II FVT. The few pillars I have found say they won't fit FV models with bull barrels. Any suggestions?

Re: Pillars for Savage mark II FVT

make your own from steel/aluminum thick wall tubing. some guys on Rimfire Central have used the threaded tubing that you find inside lamps. you can buy either type at hardware stores.

I thought there might be critical dimensions for pillars going on different makes/models, but I guess not?

Re: Pillars for Savage mark II FVT

I made my own pillars for my .308 savage. Only critical things were making sure there was clearance around the trigger group. Though I did , and maybe u should too, bed the stock, that way there would be a perfect contour and fit of the action to the stock and to the pillars. I used some old aluminum rod we had sitting around work. I drilled a long (2" or so) piece on a lathe at work then cut to rough size at home with a dremel. I then used a file to finish size.
BTW Tac. 22. Like your sig.

Re: Pillars for Savage mark II FVT

Sorry for revisiting an old thread, but did you ever find pillars for the Savage MKII? I have a Savage MKII-FV that I'm looking to pillar bed (getting a new wooden stock) but I can't seem to find pillars anywhere.
