I got a used seekins AR15 recently that had a mil spec trigger so I got a Timney Calvin Elite for it. Paid the local Smith to install it, and he said he had to put some anti walk pins in to hold the trigger group, because the old ones fell out once the Timney was installed. Is this issue common?

All my gassers have timney ar triggers, from the 667s, 677st and Calvin elite ar. They all use a set screw design to hold everything in place by wedging the entire housing against the pins. If iirc the earlier two use a double set screw system.

I have never had my pins of any type walk loose when installed correctly per Timney instructions.

Right? I don't even like to talk to people when they tell me about our local gunsmith working on their AR or building them an AR. I have to bite my lip about the money charged to do simple AR work.

Me too! All you need are a few basic tools, a vice, and 2 blocks of wood.

I’ve had pins fall out, trigger springs installed wrong, etc. Definitely go over any new build you get, or, as mentioned above, just build it yourself.
