For those of you that have used both the Pint Sized RailChanger and Recon Micro+Rail I would like some advise.
I don't shoot compatibly any more I just mainly hunt and shoot our to distance at my home range. I mainly hunt over large ag fields and food plots our of either box blinds and ladder stands so most of the time I am shooting off a ladder stand rail or home made box blind ie. 1/2" plywood. Right now I am using a Small Tab Gear bag for a front rest and just throw the strap over the barrel. I have a RRS dove tail mount on my rifle as I use it on my Anvil when hunting out of my grounds blinds and was thinking it would be better to use one of the above bags with the dove tail mount as the Tab Gear is a little cumbersome to use as its doesn't stick very well. Also thought it would be a little quicker to just detach in case of of hand shots.
Weight is not a huge factor but I really don't want to lug 5 or 6 extra pounds if I don't have to.
If there are any better options than the two above I am all ears!
Any words of wisdom would be helpful.
Thanks

For stability I don't think anything really beats heavy fill. You could try a lite fill bag if you're not taking very long shots. Unless you're shooting off multiple props I'm not sure that the railchanger will help you that much, just setting the bag on the blind and leaving it makes more sense to me. Any decent barricade bag should do the trick.

The Recon Micro with light fill is the perfect bag for this. It hooks to your rifle and is so small and light you really won’t notice that it’s there. For a novice shooter they will prob feel less stable on it compared to a GC but it’s 1/3 the size and weight. If you use good fundamentals and a true natural point of aim you can shoot just as good with the Micro as you can with a large bag.

If size/weight is your main concern ours is prob the way to go. If you can take shots with a small Tab gear I’d think you’ll be fine with it as far as stability goes because it will be way more stable than that.

Thanks, this is the way I was leaning as to the reasons you stated above. I'll give you guys a call today to discuss.
Thanks for posting.

Use some 2x4 to build a ledge into the lower sill of the windows in your box blind- flush with the plywood. This will significantly improve the stability of the base “prop” that you are shooting from.

Thanks glee, was planing to do that on the wood blinds but I do mostly hunt from ladder stands so I did just order the Recon Micro light fill with Arca clamp as I am afraid if I just lay a bag on the rail it would be subject to fall off! We will see how it performs, worst case I can resell it.

For a ladder stand, take a look at the Armageddon gear Game changer with Git Lite fill. Also, the Wiebad Forture cookie, though I don't think it can be had in a truly light configuration. I asked David Wies about a light bag at a match about a year ago and he didn't really have any interest in something really "hunt-able..."

These two bags can't easily be knocked off a prop while trying to do it. Some have complained that the fortune cookie is actually too hard to remove from a prop...
