I need some type of rest to shoot my pistols off the bench. I have been using a sand bag but the shorter compacts are burning holes in them. What can I use or make that will be a good steady rest?

Find a heavy piece of cowhide and cover the bag with it. There is a tannery not far from where I live and they gave me several pieces for the asking.

been a while since I used one. I just cut a couple 2x4's, screwed them together on a ply wood base...cover it in old carpet

Thanks for the replies. I also liked the Hyscore rest but after reading the reviews I am afraid to buy one. I guess I will just build something.
