I have a Rem 700 AAC that has a 20 MOA base on it. I have $1000 dollars saved for a scope. I have been going back and forth between Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 with target turrets in either a Mildot or Z1000 and the Vortex PST 4-16x50 FFP with an EBR 1 Mrad reticle. I mainly hunt hogs and deer with shots taken in the 100 to 800 yard range. I would greatly appreciate Any advice you have because this will be my first higher end optic purchase and I want to get it right the first time.

I would go with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP. I recently purchased one and it is extremely nice. IMO it compares closely to Night Force quality glass.

+1 Really good scope for the money. One of the nicest things about these scopes are that the turrets are matched to the reticle(Mils/Mils, MOA/MOA), less thinking involved.

I agree I would go with the Vortex PST. I have a Super Sniper that will be going on my AAC SD until I can pull enough coin together to replace it. The PST's are on the list but I may also keep my eye open for a used HDMR or SS 5-20.

A vote the Zeiss here. Nothing beats the clarity and brightness of European glass.

Vortex. I had Ziess scopes, that one in fact. It's nice but it has av1 inch tube and has good glass, but it's not up to par with new vortex scopes.

Vortex is the better pick given your selection. However, if you can swing a little extra the SS 5-20 would be better still.

Since you mention hunting, I would go for a variable with a lower end of 3 to 4 power.
I have been unimpressed with the glass on the PST 4-16, a major disclaimer, I only looked through 2. YMMV.
I would lean towards the weaver 3-15x tactical.
It has everything you need, including better glass.
Also check out the Viper HS (hunting series), though I'm not a big BDC guy, they definitely look like a serious contender.

The weaver 3-15 is excellent for the price, especially if you want FFP, illuminated, matching turrets. It is heavy though. I don't have a problem with that, but you mentioned hunting, so I thought I'd bring it up.
Edit: only looked thought one on my friend's 700. I was planing one for mine, but bought an MWS and am poor again...

I went with the 4-16x50 ffp mrad.
The glass on mine is very nice.
Now dont have any other high end scope other than a mk4 1.5-5x20 Leupold. Its also nice glass.
It does compare nicely to some higher end Nikon and Tamron camera glass that we have.
