Hi All
I'm pretty new to the whole long range scene and was hoping you guys might be able to put me right on a scope for my soon to be built, long range hunting rifle. This rifle will be used for hunting in the Southern Alps of New Zealand for Tahr, Chamois and other deer species at ranges up to 600 yds or so. I'm hoping to achieve an all up weight of about 8.5 lbs. The cal is 7mm RM and the rifle will be crafted by Chad Dixon using a Defiance action, Brux 26" #3 fluted barrel, McM edge stock etc.
In keeping with the mountain rifle theme if poss I would like a mid range variable scope with side paralax adjustment and as lightweight as possible. I'd prefer to stick with a 40mm objective. The only one that I have found so far that comes close is a Mark 4 Leupold 4.5-14 x 40 with custom shop M1 turrets for about $1000 - however I would pay up to $2000 for the right scope.
Would love to hear what you guys would recommend.
Cheers.
Murph.
