Hello all, new member here. I have a very nice Tikka m695 in .270 win with a synthetic stock. I was wondering how hard it would be to rebarrel it to a 300 win mag. I know they're both long actions, but i also know there was a m695 mag. I think i've seen on here before that a member had it done but i can't for the life of me find that thread. Any information would be appreciated. i know i can get a pac-nor barrel, but other than that i'm lost. Thank you all in advance. You all are a great assett to new shooters.

Agood Smith will have no prob here. A .300 extractor is needed and the bolt face opened. Ive done it.

I knew the bolt face was going to be a bit small. figured it would just be a bit of lathe work for someone who knew what they were doing. Mikki, you have done this before, how much would you think it'd cost to do the bolt work and a new tube? would i be better off buying say a remington sendero sfii in 300 win? I'd kinda like to attempt "building" a semi-custom, and have heard the m695s were very good starting actions. It's definately slick feeling. also, would i have any problems with the m695 vs the m695m...I've heard the magazine was the only difference....thank you again.

Ive absolutely no idea what it would cost to do the job as Im not in the US. I will say this though, anytime you go down the custom route you move to a different dimension as regards quality and accuracy. 9 times out of 10 its going to cost you a lot more to have work done than to perhaps change the gun for a new one. As I said the custom route takes you to a different dimension and usually when you go down that road for the first time you will never accept anything else again. It depends on the person and what they are looking for in a rifle. If you just want a gun that shoots OK then the custom scene is not for you, if you want it to be unbelievable then think about the custom option, theres very little comparison in the two.

Re: Please Help! Rebarreling a tikka 695

Thanks for the help. I am wanting my first really amazing rifle. Probably top it with a Leupold vxIII or a huskemaw scope. I already reload for my .270s and love the sport. I hunt alot so, i'm ready for a .30 cal and 300 win mag seems to be the best for me. I was going to sell my tikka, and use that cash to buy a remington sendero sf ii...but, i can't get enough out of my tikka to make up the cost of a rebarrel. and since i already have the Tikka, and i love the action...i figured might as well check into it. I know Hart has a rebarreling service on their website...and they will rebarrel, true the action, lap the lugs, and true the bolt face for $650. and i know Hart barrels have a good reputation. sounds like a one stop shop. but i will call mac just to see if i'm missing something. Still not sure about the M695 vs the M695m.

Well, what i'm looking for is a scope that has target knobs...i like the huskemaw's yardage system. I'd also like to keep it at or under 1k, and not mil-dots....where should i start looking?
