PMACA 10/22 Multi-Chassis Compatibility with Kidd Supergun

Do you mean Kidd Supergrade instead of supergun?

Only the longnose chassis is inlet for the rear tang offered by Kidd, all the other PMACA chassis don't have that machined in. PMACA has also modified the longnose chassis machining to allow the use of the hex drivers to loosen the retaining screws for the quick change barrel feature on the kidd supergrades. I'm not a big fan of enclosed/caged barrels in chassis systems, I like the direct lift out/drop in's a lot better. The longnose is a fairly decent setup, I run one for local steel matches with a PRS flair. For the price you cant beat it, but it does have it's limitations and idiosyncrasies that can be annoying.

Tango Sierra:

Thanx for the intel. I did mean Supergrade. I just wanted a handguard on which to use, dare I say run, Ultradyne sights. Modularity - iron, red dot and scope. Why does not Kidd make the rear tang a modular piece so their action without it would fit convential 10/22 stocks/chassis?

Could you add expand a bit your statement on the limitations and idiosyncrasies.

The rear tang mount is optional from kidd, that way the receiver will fit in any stock or chassis any other ruger 10/22 would. It can be installed or removed as needed: https://www.coolguyguns.com/Kidd-Aftermarket-Receiver-Rear-Tang-Attachment_p_105.html

AS to the limitations of PMACA, I understand why it is made the way it is as I am a machinist and know why it is done that way. There is only so much you can do when starting out with a 1.5" square piece of stock in the CNC mill. There are a couple items I don't like
1) receiver should sit 1/4 to 3/8" higher lower in the chassis as this would solve a couple problems: EDITED 11-8-18
a) allow the use of true rifle type AR-15 stocks without having thumb web pinching problems with standard AR-15 grips as it is currently made you need a long adapter section to due this (sold as an accessory) that adds a good 2" to LOP and is awkward. If you are just using carbine style buffer tube mounts this is not an issue but does limit rear stock selection.
b) scope / eye / cheekweld height relationships.
2) pic rail section on bottom lower front is not within STANAG or Picatinny rail specs. Every time I put a pic rail accessory (bipod or sling mount) I have to open it up 1/3-2/3 turn to fit the PMACA rail, Larue index clips dont fit without hammering them on/off. Not really a big deal, but annoying.
3) longnose chassis needs to be 2-3" longer on the nose for bipod mounting
4) wish they would just get rid of the pic rail and put in MLOK slots on bottom and sides, would cure item #2

This would require a bigger piece of alum stock and more machine time. They could also then do offset height machining with a slightly smaller fore end and weight would remain close to same. For what it is, it's a great application at it's price point. The only other alum 10/22 chassis I'm aware of is McCrees new stock and it is considerably more, dont know if they have rear tang compatibility and is a McCrees (mcrees threatens to sue you if you use a stock with a built in level bubble other than theirs, lol, great marketing strategy that is sure to endear themselves to the shooting community) : http://www.mcreepat.com/

If you Manufacture/Produce, Advertise, Distribute/Purchase a chassis/rifle with an embedded cant indicator level from a source other than McRee's Precision or an authorized dealer for McRee's Precision, it is not authorized by McRee's and you may be liable for infringing McRee's Patents. If you infringe McRee's Patents, you may be responsible for paying money damages, your conduct may be enjoined, and you may even be required to pay McRee's attorney fees.

With all that said, I use the PMACA long nose chassis supergrade Kidd a lot. I also have the Kidd supergrade in their proprietary magpul stock and like it a lot as well. Just know that you can only get the magpul stock inlet for the supergrade from Kidd as a complete rifle, they do not sell the stock separately (tried, pleaded and begged, only available as a complete rifle). If it's a mostly prone bipod match, I'll use the PMACA, standing or kneeling offhand I'll use the magpul. I use a big ERGO grip on the PMACA that mostly alleviates the thumb web pinch problem, but any hard plastic hand grip is painful with a rifle stock.

I machined the slip-over dials for the SWFA knobs out of some 3" 2024 aluminum stock, been using them for about 3 years now. Works pretty good for the side adj knob as you get a finer control of the knob movement. I have a few left over. IF I ever get around to buying another I'll probably do a 2nd generation that is a little lighter and smaller and has better ring bolt clearance, but they work well overall. I can just barely use my left thumb to do focus change when I use a sling without breaking NPOA or grip position (that is what the 2 round cylinders are for on the PMACA gun on top, the thumb fits between the two of them)

The elevation knob is subdivided with 50 flats on the edge to match the 5 MILS of travel per rotation. I'm just using some # stickers for a known yardage game at the moment, the sticker #'s match the target #'s.

all 3 barrels are 16.5". That is one of my gripes with the PMACA chassis, it should be 2-3" longer on the nose
