Just a question from someone starting out in the precision rifle game. I just came across a deal on a 500 round case of PMC .308. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I figured it would be some decent plinking ammo. I'm wondering whether anyone here has had any experience with it? Thanks!

I've used their mil-surp 7.62 stuff, its fine for general blasting out of an auto loader if you're not trying to group better than 2 MOAish.

Ok. I’m unfamiliar with this particular factory offering. Just wanted to see what the cost was as a lot of folks getting started don’t realize Federal Gold Medal Match with the 175 SMK can be had for $1 per round shipped.

The PMC may shoot well in your rifle and could be used for close in practice. I doubt it will fare well at distance.

Check out SGAmmo. At the price you quoted per round, you can get much better ammo for the same cost, or general range ammo for a lot less.
Absolutely was going to suggest them I've shot exactly 2k rounds of that PMC Bronze out of a Weatherby bolt and 308AR. Had a lot of fun banging steel with it out to ~ 550 which is as long as we can go. I think the lowest shipped from SG I ever had was .55 cents/round. Was 1.5" out of both rifles

Have shot cases of pmc 223 55gr, 1.25 - 1.5 moa.
Very reliable no primer strikes.

Runs circles around wwb.

For the price good ammo, better than most range class ammo.
Imho

I think you would be better served by waiting for palmetto state armory to put up their 168 or 175 fgmm when it’s 17 per box. 10 boxes gets free shipping.

This is where it’s at (unless you’re in CA or similarly restricted area).

If you’re just looking for brass that comes with a loud noise... locally in southern CA, that’s about what I see plinking ammo for.

Out of my 2014 AX I found it to be very accurate . Shot it to 600m no issues . Very consistent. Was using it for training ammo.

Reloaded the brass for match rounds , no problems there either .

I appreciate all the of the comments, I'm gonna buy a few boxes and see whether or not my rifle likes it. If I get decent results I might consider it for plinking ammo. I'll continue to shoot premium for my distance outings though. Thanks gents!
