POF Lower...w/which upper???

Re: POF Lower...w/which upper???

I would buy the matching POF upper and be done with it. Every gun i have ever seen pieced together ends up having some kind of feeding or accuracy issue!!

Re: POF Lower...w/which upper???

Look...you can piece an upper together based on a DPMS A4 flattop (the only pattern uppers than the POF is compatible with), but you'll have to use a sleeve to fit the DPMS upper onto the standard-diameter AR pivot pin used on the POF. The fit I have seen on the builds using the POF/DPMS combo have been acceptable, but not exactly tight. The last one I saw was built with an 18" DPMS SASS barrel and consistently shot around MOA with decent ammo (and about 2x that with surplus/147gr ball).

OR...you can just get the complete POF upper in whichever flavor best suits your needs (from 12", 14.5", 16.5" and 20") and know you will have a well-built, accurate (sub-MOA), reliable, piston driven upper. My 20" P-308 shoots 3/4 MOA all day long with good ammo and I have fired some 1/2 MOA groups with it. With load development for the rifle, I am confident that I can get the groups tighter than the 3/4 MOA I have been getting.

Re: POF Lower...w/which upper???

Ah k. well I have a 14.5 POF upper for it and I love it. I was hoping to build one using the KAC URX rails a noveske barrel and an AAC muzzle brake. At least that is what I would like to do. Maybe I just need to build a separate complete rifle. hmm any one know where I can pick up a noveske N6 lower? being as KAC and Armalite arent legal here in this 'Wonderful' state!

Note: the quotes around wonderful, means sarcasm....this state drives me nutz!!

Agreed.

Re: POF Lower...w/which upper???

POF upper is the way to go with the lower. If you want a DPMS, buy a DPMS gun and be done with it. The POF is top shelf. You do need a pin to sleeve the upper and lower together if you decide to frankengun it. IMO it is worth the wait for a POF. Put your lower together and gather up your mags while you are waiting for your POF upper to come in. Or call POF and buy the parts and screw it together yourself.
