We took 3 exemplary rifles and 4 exemplary cans to the range to test POI shift at 100yds. All the rifles did well. The measured group sizes and shifts from the video notes are copied below.
Especially interesting to me was the M40A5 / FA762SS as oddly no POI data existed that I was aware of. The Surefire FA762SS can used in the video here, is the USMC issued model which is discontinued and apparently incredibly rare now. In the making of the video the collar tightened almost all the way to the next click position, and I didn't want to shoot it in a config where it could kick loose nearly a full click and effect this test, so I tightened it to the next spring retainer position.
This was a POI shift test of market over the barrel suppressors. The Griffin Armament® DUAL-LOK™ PSR7 was tested on a PWS 2112 built M40A5. The PSR7 was also tested on the same rifle. The M40A5 sight used for testing was a NSN/1240-01-533-1854 Schmidt and Bender 3-12x50 GenII Mildot MTC set at 12 power magnification. Ammunition used was federal 168 gr Gold Medal Match sold through the CMP program. This performance was compared to the same rifle firing the Surefire® FA762SS.
Accuracy unsuppressed for the M40A5 with the DUAL-LOK™ mount was .935 MOA. Accuracy suppressed with the PSR7 mounted was .221 MOA. POI shift was .460 MOA Up and zero MOA windage.
Accuracy for the unsuppressed M40A5 was .452 MOA. Accuracy suppressed with the Surefire® FA762SS was .349 MOA. POI shift for the Surefire® FA762SS was .692 MOA Left and .050 MOA Down.
We also compared Griffin's DUAL-LOK™ PSR5 which was tested on a Griffin Armament® 16" MK1 rifle built with a 12.5" suppressor ready rail. This was compared to an Ops Inc 12th model / Allen Engineering® AEM5 on a Precision Reflex Inc PRI MK12 Mod H (Holland), which is a 16" barreled special purpose rifle. Both 5.56 rifles were fired using Leupold's 2.5–8×36 mm TS-30 MK4 MRT optics with magnification set at 8 power. Ammunition used was circa 2015 55 gr Ruag sold under the Prime label.
Accuracy unsuppressed for the MK1 5.56mm rifle with DUAL-LOK™ mount was .543 MOA. Accuracy suppressed with the Griffin PSR5 mounted was .492 MOA. POI shift was .67 MOA Left and .460 MOA Down.
Accuracy for the unsuppressed MK12 Mod H was .581MOA. Accuracy suppressed with the Allen Engineering® AEM5 was 1.069 MOA. POI shift for the Allen Engineering® AEM5 was .05 MOA Right and .420 MOA Up.
POI shift was compared to unsuppressed POI using 3 shot groups at 100 yards.
