Suppressors POI shift with 7.62 Phantom

Went out today to record fresh numbers for some DA cards with my POF 308. Also first time shooting this gun with a new QD YHM Phantom. POI shift with the suppressor was a suprising 0.3 mils up and no shift in windage. I had read these cans were very repeatable but most got a fairly good sized shift. Not the top of the line suppressor by any means and a heavy 28 oz. but for me it is just about right. We can't hunt with suppressors in NC so it is only for practice shooting steel and will be moved from this gun to my .243 and 30/06. Good noise reduction and no flash noted in the dusk. Maybe I got lucky with this suppressor and the POI shift. I took it on and off for 4 five shot groups and it was consistent. It will be interesting to se what it does on my other long range bolt guns. For reference this is a 16" gun shooting 155 Bergers at 2610 fps.

I am glad you had success. Seems to be across the board, a well made repeatable suppressor.

Good to know there is something else out there other than gemtech or AAC. I have the Gemtech M4-02 on my RRA and can say it really didnt have a shift at all in the POI which was good cause I dont have to remember all the time what real zero is with it on or off. The bad thing though is that gemtech is no longer making this one. Just curious what kind of price was your suppressor and can it handle other calibers within the 30 cal zone and how does it do with the heat. My gemtech does prety good but its also smaller in diameter. I am still debating if I want a gemtech HVT QD or the AAC 762SD.

My recent email response from YHM was that the Phantom is rated up to the 300 Win Mag and I've read other postings that it is rated for all the .30 cal cannons. Not surprising once you hold one.
Mine was considerably less than MSRP but I'd want to double check my checking acct statement before I try and remember the exact figure.
I can only compare the rate of heat increase to 3 other suppressors, the HVT QD, the Shadow XL Ti, and the Cyclone. The HVT got warm faster than the Phantom on my weapon for sure. The Cyclone and Shadow (a titanium can) also warm faster, but they were being shot on a .308 (powder charge was similar though)

Can you get a better can than the YHM Phantom? Most likely.
Can you get one better for less money? That will be a tough one.
