I'm currently having my first custom rifle built by a local gunsmith. The rifle's main job will be deer hunting but will also have some range time as well. Below is the details on the build. The gunsmith will of course have a specific load recipe for the rifle. I was wondering if anyone has some ideas/experiences/things to try once I start shooting the rifle.

(Will post pictures once the rifle is completed next week)

Details of Build:
- Remington 700 Stainless Steel Action
-Krieger Barrel, #5.5 Heavy Sporter, 9 Twist (Finished Length 26" + Muzzle Break)
-Bell & Carlson Stock, Alaskan Wilderness II Full Block
-Trigger Tech Primary Trigger
-Talley Precision Mounts
-Leupold VX-5HD -15x44, Windplex Reticle

Thanks in advance for the advice!!!

280 AI is capable of sending a 180 at respectable speed, 9 twist should work , although you may consider a faster twist barrel. If you're not going to be using heavy bullets your list looks like it'll make a fine hunter .

If you’re curious about that, Berger website has a stability calculator, you can put in your projectile and atmospheric conditions. It will tell if 1:9 works optimally or loses some BC for your loads.

Sounds good, cutovers and power lines, should give those Georgia deer a run for their money, pigs too. Use to hunt down in Glenn county.
