I have decided to get an Atlas BT46 for my 20” AR15 in 6MM ARC. But I’m wondering which mounting option. I am fairly new to rifles and want to make the right purchase the first time.

Option (1) Atlas BT46 “No Clamp” bipod is $259.99, and I can order the LaRue LT271 QD mount designed for the atlas. This package cost about $365.

Option (2) Atlas BT46 LW170 this included the ADM 170S QD mount already installed for $355.

I have no experience with either option. And can’t find much information. I’d assume the LaRue mount will be higher quality, but maybe I’m wrong.

I appreciate all of the help on picking the right bipod and bipod mount.

No reason to get a Larue mount in this day and age. The design, while functional, is outdated. The Larue requires a tool for adjustment and why risk the potential for marring/damaging your rail with improper adjustment?

I voted the ADM (tooless adjustment plus won't damage rails) but if you think you'd potentially migrate over to ARCA, look into the ARCA/Picatinny mounts like the RRS BTC-Pro, Magpul QR Rail Grabber, or RRS SC-ARC instead of either the Larue or ADM.

If you're sticking with just picatinny, consider the Arisaka Rail Slider

Did you make the above video? That range looks just like H2O Fowl farms in North Carolina. I actually have a membership at that range, that’s where I go to shoot. Unless I’m mistaken.

Now I’m getting off track a bit here. But apparently there is the Accutac BR4 G2 which I can get for $320 new on Optics planet. This is heavier than the Atlas but apparently it is comparable, or possible higher quality. All of these choices makes it tough.

People have different preferences when it comes to bipods. Accutac makes a good bipod but their mounts are proprietary (not ARMS 17S hole pattern/compatible). They did however announce a 2-in-1 ARCA/Picatinny mount at this year's SHOT Show. I think it's supposed to come out late summer. If you need a bipod now, Accutac is very good when it comes to having parts and accessories that the customer can purchase to retrofit/upgrade their bipod.

I prefer the ADM over the larue for the reasons already mentioned.
Toolless adjustment and won't mar rails since it clamps instead of cams against the rail.
More surface area on the rail with the ADM clamp as well.
I don't run any ARCA so no preference there.

You’d think at least once in that vid the manufacturer would show how loose it is without tightening the screw on the right side.

Or at least show that a user can further tighten the clamp with that screw. (You can!)

It’s sorta like manufacturers taking just three dramatic dark pics of their dark-coated actions in a dark room.

Jesus, digital pics and vids are as cheap as chips!

Thanks! The Accutac looks very nice and seems really robust I like the idea of how solid they are (Little to no play), but I’m not sure about the added weight on the end of my gun. My gun is already 20” barrel, heavy 26.5 ounce Steiner 1-8X scope. The Accutac looks to be 20-22 ounces by its self. Atlas is only 13 ounces, so I’m leaning Atlas.

Optics planet will sell the Atlas for $315 with the Father’s Day 11% off promo, so I’ll probably go Atlas just for weight reasons alone. Gonna sleep on it and order tomorrow.
