Poorly worded article and a wtf

How does this happen

The majority of hunters are dumbasses.

Read that yesterday…

I had the same question.

Hunters on a range? Stray round?

Tier one dude shot down at Christmas… on base. In an accident.

WTF is going on? Not saying it’s a conspiracy or a murder. Just that whoever is running the administration and similar should be answering for how the fuck that could happen on a base range.

How can this happen in the public while hunting.....the same way it happened there. Someone shot an animal bullet pass through and hit someone. It's that simple.

Shit happens.....we engage in a dangerous sport. Let's stop all hunting if it can save only one life......it's for the children you know.

Shitty situation for sure, but these are the inherent risks we take.

Used to be stationed down there and hunted this same place a few times while there. The odds of this happening are about the same as winning the lottery, sad that it happened. But someone wins the lottery also.

“Be aware of your target and what is beyond it”

Ie don’t shoot skylines animals

Don’t have a gun shop “bore sight” your gun then call it good and head to the woods

the problem is...not enough details to surmise what went down.

ricochets do super weird shit. but do i even know if that is what happened? no. could have been the shooter did something super stupid. do i know? absolutely not.

usually...you trace this stuff backwards, someone did something stupid.

i recently started looking at the hunting rules on bragg. more specifically, the bowhunting rules. my kid is stationed there-him and his guys would certainly make short work of eating them up. would give me something to do while he is working and i am visiting. with the rules regarding getting firearms on base, i wouldn't even want to monkey with that aspect. from what i remember, bows are not a concern. couldn't have firearms in the barracks, but no one batted an eye at my bow and broadheads hanging on my wall for all to see. :ROFLMAO:

There is Eglin AFB proper and there is Eglin Reservation. Total of almost 500,000 acres. About half of that is open to hunting. All you need is a permit from Jackson Guard.

The article mentioned Eglin is located in Walton County. Base proper is in Okaloosa County. The reservation covers the bulk of Okaloosa and parts of Walton and Santa Rosa Counties. There three counties have a large population of multi-generation rednecks, particularly in the northern parts of the counties. His buddy could have been on any of a number of ranges. Most are off-limits to non-mission types.

Larazzo could have been driving down HWY 85 from 7th to Eglin or Hurlburt and caught a stray bullet from either side of the highway. At one time, most of the area to the west of the highway was a popular spot for deer hunters. Might still be.

I have hunted with the person that pulled the trigger for many years before we lost our lease, I grew up with her and her family. Yes it was a woman that has hunted most of her life. The area it happened is on the Eglin reservation that is in Walton county that allows dog hunting and rifles, she was shooting at a deer that was being run by dogs and the victim had stopped around a corner and she did not know he was there, the bullet went thru his door and hit him in the leg somewhere and he bled out. That is the story ,how it was told to me from a family member. I don't know of any range around that area that the victim would have been going to, the area is thick woods with narrow roads. I hunted there 25 years ago and at that time it was shotgun only. It is a tragedy, prayers to the soldiers family.
