powder dispensers

Re: powder dispensers

Hornady just introduced one of these at the SHOT Show. It seems like a lot of people have invested some time figuring out how to optimize the Chargemaster. Search around and you will find out how to reprogram the machine and use a McDonald's straw on the exit tube to reduce overthrows. I would probably buy a Chargemaster now, but Hornady will be selling their unit for cheaper, which might put some downward pricing pressure on the Chargemaster... a good reason to wait it out unless you have to have it now.

I think you just invited a pic of the Prometheus.

Re: powder dispensers

Save yourself the headach and get the CM1500. Leave the Hornady to the beta testers that love to buy the latest and greatest (AKA the untested and unproven)

Re: powder dispensers

I have owned both i thought the chargemaster was much better than the lyman, in fact the lyman was so bad I only kept it for 2 weeks. Mind you I now use a harrels non-electronic but very nice.

ah ....the un-washed.

Re: powder dispensers

I am not happy with the lyman brand, seem to drift off zero up to a half a grain. Im also thinking about getting the rcbs, from the reviews Ive read it looks pretty good, just waiting for some $$$$$ to fall . thats my next investment. But if you really want a precise scale try acculab (sinclair sells one)

Re: powder dispensers

Just for the heck of it and I haven't done it since the first 3 weeks of owning the charge master I loaded 100 243 charges and checked them all against my 10-10's...no problems found...I then checked 50 loads for my 308...no problems found. I've had these scales for 2 years calibrated them ever time I used them for about a month and only calibrated once since that time. For the money I don't see how you could get better. It did throw about 15 heavy charges with the IMR-4831 but I just dumped them back and hit another draw. If the tube is full it will dump a couple of grains extra once in a while...

Re: powder dispensers
