42.5 grains of IMR 4895 with the 168 SMK in Winchester brass and Winchester primers is my fall back to load for 308. IMR 4064 and Varget are both good 1K loads for 1K with 175 SMKs. I have RE-15 but haven't tested it yet. There is a lot written about it though.
With my single stage plus electronic/digital dispenser, my current load is 42.7gr of IMR 4895 behind a 168gr SMK. Same charge for the 167gr Scenar (which is my current load).
I am going to give AA2520 a try for my new multi-stage Dillon (for both 308 and 223).
45gn of varget or 43 gn of 4064 is what I like to use.and if you choose to use a 174gn smk just drop a grain and load that.just remember what one rifel like doesn't mean another will.
I use and have been using RL-15 for my 168s since I began reloading. Easy powder to work with and it gives me good accuracy. Use what you have on hand or what you can find. There is nothing wrong with IMR 4064 or Varget either.
What Deadly said. I've used all those plus BLC-2,3031. Win 748 and Tac seem to be popular too. 308's aren't too picky, they work well with all of the above. I will say Varget and H4895 would be my top 2 chioces for my rifle.
