Powders for 260 Rem

Re: Powders for 260 Rem

123 - Varget, RL-15, or similar burn rate

139 - H414, H4350, N-160 or similar burn rate

Who built the rifle?

H4350, RL-19, and RL-17 are great with 123's.

RL-15, RL-17, H4350, IMR4350 with 107's

These are just a few of the good choices.

Looks to be a pattern here. One powder to run all the bullet weights, hmmmmmmm

I ran N550 with the 123 Scenar for 2yrs. I thought it was great. Don't know why it isn't more popular.

Moving to H4350 and the 139's now though.

Re: Powders for 260 Rem

No way to get enough H4831sc in case with 142 SMK seated to the 2.800" max OAL the DPMS mag allows you. I should quantify the statement. H4831sc works but velocity is 2500 to 2550 so if you are content with the lower velocity.

Have you tried the Ramshot powders? Quickload predictions look promising, but I've never heard of anyone using them.

Re: Powders for 260 Rem

I know of a few guys using the ramshot powders for the .260 with very good luck, I will see if I can get some load data that they are using.

45.5 grain ramshot hunter with 123s shooting at 2880fps. As always use caution when working up a load.

Edited to add load.
