I see people, trying to get in to the action machining business, and they all seem to gravitate towards the Remington type action. Why doesn't anyone want to make something inspired by the Pre-64 Winchester action? When I first got back in to shooting, I bought a Remington 5-R, and enjoyed it... Then I purchased a FN SPR, and enjoyed that. Recently, I added a GAP HRT rifle, and like that, but still go back to my FN because I enjoy not having brass thrown into the next area code, and like the feed better, and how smooth the action is with its 3-position safety. Wy don't one of the smiths here like Chad Dixon, who appreciates the design, improve/ modify it to work with larger calibers? I would definitely buy one. I am currently working on putting my first .338 together, on a Stiller action, and can't help but think about how much nicer the Pre-64 action would be.
