I' m not a fan of letting my rifle hand loads set for weeks at a time. Pistol who cares. I just cleanded up 300 pieces of brass and had the day off, so thougth about priming the brass then putting them back in my storage boxes. Anyone else do this? Couldnt imagine any ill effect....But as an OCD reloader just wanting feedback. It's not like the cardboard boxes keep out humidity etc. unlike a sealed jar of powder

This, plus I like to be ready to load when I have time(usually after the kids go to bed). I size and clean and do everything, then prime my brass and store it all in big plastic Folgers coffee cans. The can is more or less sealed, moreso than the cardboard primer box, so I'm probably better off.

I pre-prime all of my brass. I load on a turret press and process in batches of 500 or so cases at a time, depends on how many bullets are in the Sierra box.

I pre prime. I will get the cases prepped then prime them. Put them in bags of 50 in a 50 cal ammo can.
If I get the urge to shoot or get a call that says let's hit the range tomorrow, it doesn't take long to get 100-200 rounds ready to go.

I had not thought that what I do was "pre-Priming" but that is what I essentially end up with. I do most of my brass prep in batches, one operation at a time. I tend to tumble a bunch one night, size them all another night, and so forth. I end up with that bunch of cases primed and ready to charge and seat bullets, I seldom prime and finish loading the same night, so if that is pre-priming, then I do it all the time to no ill effect.

I do pre-prime though. SAAMI tested primers and states that basically only full on submersion in water or oil would cause harm to primers. This is why you see primers shipped in open cardboard boxes.

I prime hundreds of rounds into prepped brass in front of the TV and put them into boxes for later use. No problems.

My fired brass is tumbled, resized, and primed within a day after it's fired, then bagged in ziplocks with as much air (and its accompanying humidity) as possible squeezed out before sealing.
I would "seal a meal" vacuum pack it if that were practical/economical. Is humidity a big issue? Who cares? I don't intend to find out the hard way.
IMHO, the best time to do the "brass reset" is as soon as it becomes available.

Only downside to prepriming all your cases is that there are no cases to use when you want to try a different primer/powder combination.
Otherwise, no big deal.
BTW, if you're totally OCD, why aren't you storing your Primers in a climate controlled environment. Like a large ammo box with dessicant???

Second DS2. Only a problem if you decide to change primer/powder/bullet combination. Since it might be years between prepping and loading for my brass, or different lots of primers, I hold off on priming until I'm ready to use them.
