Good evening, gents!

Im rather new to the precision rifle community and I've just built myself a MK12 Mod 0. I had a few questions Im hoping you can help me with.

Firstly, how often should I clean my barrel? I understand precision shooters don't clean their barrels frequently. Is this true for ARs? Also, how about running a CLP patch down the barrel after each shoot?

Is there any recomendations for chamber cleaning?

Can anyone reccomend a good patch/jag combination? I was looking at the Parker Hale style from Dewey.

Im told that the Bore Guide from JP Enterprises is the best. Anyone have any thoughts? Is there anything better?

Any help would be appreciated.

Depending on which ammo or powder if reloading you may have to clean more often.
Some ammo runs really dirty as well as some powders so that will be a factor.

I have numerous bore guides from Possum Hollow, Sinclair, wheeler Engineering, Dewey and they all work fine so long as you get the correct size for the application and rod diameter. The Possum Hollow and Sinclair are my favorite so far for AR's but the Dewey complete AR kit would be highly reccomended as it has most everything you need for cleaning.

As far as jags and patches I've always been fond of Shooters choice but there are numerous others just as well made but Shooters Choice is allways widely available at most local sources I've found.

I prefer Dewey rods but again there are several other great choices available.

I usually clean a new barrel after every shoot until I stop seeing copper fouling and then only clean when accuracy starts to drop off but I know some people that clean after every time they shoot. If accuracy is still there I only run a patch coated with FP-10 through the bore before storage and that has worked well for me.

I just picked up the bore guide from JP and it didn't seem too much more expensive than the one at Cabela's. I also don't buy 1000s of rounds of ammo so I don't really clean my barrels too much, just the bits behind them. I had an incident with a bunch of mud that prompted the JP purchase...

Clean the barrel whenever accuracy drops/you start getting weird fliers.

Clean the chamber after each range trip or 2 since its an AR; if shooting suppressed it'll be every range trip.

Get a bore guide (any delrin type will do)and Dewey chamber rod as well as a barrel rod; Tipton brass jag kit.

Don't get caught up on what you clean your bore with.
