Re: Premier Heritage or USO?
So many choices!
I bought a USO SN3 3.2-17 Ergo and ran it on my rifle for more than a year. I loved the scope. Build to withstand hard use and abuse. The EREK setup is easy to use and the clicks are clear and distinct. It was easy to focus and it tracked and held zero flawlessly. I found the glass to be superb. My scope was MOA/MOA--I've used and trained MOA in LE courses and applications without a complaint.
I ended up selling the USO to an envious close friend (under substantial pressure) and took advantage of the chance to buy a PH 3-15X50 with Gen2XR. The PH appears to be rugged and well built. After only a few weeks I've found myself really liking Mil/Mil--easy transition from MOA. The PH takes the edge in glass by a bit but both USO and PH are outstanding in my subjective view. The PH controls are really cool--I like the slide out reostat/illumination. The cam locking rezero feature is innovative, works really well in the field, and a big improvement, in my mind. I'm trying to get use to the close and slightly fine elevation clicks (I was spoiled by the USO EREK) and I'm hoping that fix offered by PH solves the minor issue.
The Gen2XR really improved my ability to "precision shoot" consistently--it is a really fine (read thin) reticle as compared to the MOA Scale Type 1 I had on the USO. I have found it very usable for ranging and I'm still experimenting with the reticle for holdover and windage leads, but, I like it a lot!
I'd be happy to have my USO back, but, I am blown away by the PH's quality and clarity of glass. They both are outstanding--you can't go wrong.
If I were you, I'd look into Mil/Mil a bit before jumping off.
I hope this helps you some.
