Anyone ever compete in it?

I'm thinking about getting a AR15 to compete in it.

how was it?

how long was the event (how long did you stay there?) and it seems like the lodging is provided.

if any military member has gone, did you go in your uniform representing your unit?

and lasty, are the competitors allowed to use AR10s? and is that in the same category as a AR15?

I did it in 87 and 88. At the time it was a 300 agg match and I shot w/the USMC. I have no idea of the rules now. I believe they still have housing, if none is available, the town of Sandusky is fairly close. If you're gonna go that far I'd shoot more than 1 match.

The Presidents 100 match is to be fired using the Service Rifle,
Rule 8.1.1,

M1, Rule 6.2.1, M14/M1A Rule 6.2.2, and M16/AR Rule 6.2.3.

So the AR10 is out.

If you are shooting for your service or getting support from your service, then you would wear the uniform. Thats mainly up to the Service Involved.

You should check the CMP website on the availablility of rooms, they go fast.

The Presidents match is a 30 shot match NO SIGHTING shots allowed.
10 shots standing 200 yds. slow fire 10 min. time limit.
10 shots 300 yds. rapid fire prone 70 seconds with a mag change.
10 shots 600 yds. slow fire 10 min. time limit.
If your good enough the top 10 go to a 10 rd. shoot off at 600 yds.

Housing is not provided in that you are on your own for where you stay. Base housing is availible but hard to get. I would not show up there expecting to get any, but sometimes it is there if you go to the clubhouse and ask. Have an alternate plan.
The match seems to take about 7 hours to complete as there are 6 relays and usually 1200 or so people shooting. It can get longer if there are a lot of boats in the impact area (Lake Erie). Sometimes it goes faster. Prepare for hot humid weather but your in Florida so it may not bother you much.
You should be able to wear your uniform as long as your still Active, or Reserve but ask your NCOIC or CO if you want to make sure. It is an experience. NO AR 10's in CMP matches but they can be used in some NRA matches. HTH

Re: President's 100 match?

It ain't easy.

You don't have to shoot in uniform but you have to register as service (your rank and component will show on your registration card, score card labels, and on the final score bulletin, i.e., "DOE, John E. SPC-ARNG").

As a service man you can probably stay in the barracks. I believe it's somewhere around $20 a night.

Good luck, and shoot straight.

Re: President's 100 match?

It has been canceled until further notice by the current 'owner of the tab's title' It's time for change so the new competition rules will be given out next month.
All participants will receive a gold colored medal with a red white and blue ribbon made in China. If anyone misses, the individual in the butts will be required to push a thick black pencil through the 4 ring to simulate a hit. In order to insure individual firers from the lower income brackets can participate, busses will be brought in from New Orleans, Oakland, East LA, and parts of Texas and Arizona. This is so there can be more diversity in the participants.
You see, change is not about making it better really, it's about spreading teh wealth of competition so all who partipate feel good about themselves. This will make the sport more benign for overall acceptance in politically correct company.
Questions can be directed to The Department of Change in the lower basment offices of the big white house in DC

only pussies get their tab in rifle, go two weeks earlier and get it in pistol. Harder sport, shorter days, less crybaby BS, true marksmanship at its core
