Wanted to share my experience with a new muzzle break made by PRI (Precision reflex inc.) 5.56 MSTN Quiet Control Brake / Compensator. If anyone is looking for a muzzle break to tame recoil and muzzle flip this is it as well as the percussion. The QCB has been cut from solid stainless steel bar stock for greater resistance to heat and burnout. Specs: 304 Stainless .95" dia. X 2.05" long, black nitrite finish thread is 1/2 x 28. The thread end of the brake tapers down to a .750" diameter. Brake comes with a selection of spacer shims to set the timing of the brake. The 3 holes should be at the 1 O'clock position when tightened into place. Tighten brake into place using a round screw driver in the 1st slot closest to the barrel. (Direct from the PRI website) Mounting the break was a little harder than other breaks I have experience with. I mounted it on a government profile barrel and had to use a combination of PRI shims and PWS shim set. I believe that if used on a heavy barrel it would go on better with the shims PRI provided.
Range report: Complete weapon specs Vltor upper, Fail Zero bolt group, H buffer, Daniel Defense 16” carbine length DI, and Burris TAC30 1-4x24. Prior to mounting this muzzle I had the PWS FSC556 break. When comparing with the above specs the PRI won. Recently I have noticed more and more people searching for a muzzle that doesn’t have the percussion of the PWS or other muzzle breaks. I would have to say this is the answer if you want a range friendly break. The PRI break when firing with foam ear plugs sounds more like a pop then an IED going off. Recoil reduction was a little better than the PWS. Follow up shots were quicker regardless of the shooting position. The appearance of the PRI looks a lot better than the PWS. The other cool thing is that it’s just under 20 bucks less than the PWS break. Hope this helps anyone looking for a different muzzle break. The picture below is my rifle(top) PWS break Mk 12 Mod X (below) PRI break. Second picture is my rifle with the PRI break on it now.
