Price checks allowed?

I am considering selling a barreled action but I have no idea what a fair value would be since it is older and somewhat rare. I don't want to mention any details until I know it's not against forum rules to ask for a value check. Don't want to do it on the "Firearms for Sale" forum since I will probably get self serving answers.

Is it ok to do this?

I think you can ask all you want what people think the value of a firearm is. Doing that is not offering to sell it.
