I've never heard of the Giraud's referred to as Gen 1 vs Gen 2 etc, but this is the most current model. I bought it new 2 years ago and only used it for 6 months. Have been hanging onto it while using another trimmer setup until I was sure I can live without the Giraud. There's a few good videos on YouTube showing the trimmer running to give you an idea of volume.
