(probably) getting a marlin 981T any disadvantages

I want to get into precision shooting, and do it on the cheap. I have very little experience shooting with scopes, so I don't want to get a cheaper precision setup, and then when I have experience I can get a good gun and scope.

The gun that has caught my eye the most is the Marlin 981T. The reason is simple, I want a bolt action, and I love tube magazines. Spending a day reloading 10/22 mags is a pain, but dropping rounds in a tube mag is easy. Its probably why I love revolvers and don't like semi autos as much.

By going with a tube magazine, the barrel can not be free floated, and not easily changed, but are there any other disadvantages. Is there any reason why I should go with a different gun?

I was looking at spending about 600 total, so that leaves 400 for the scope/rings and bipod.

Any other bolt action guns made today with a tubular magazine? I'm not dead set on that magazine type, but if there are no significant disadvantages, I see no reason to use any other type.

The gun will be used for target shooting and 25/50/100 yards

The 981T is a great little rifle. I bought one and gave it to my great neice as her first rifle. I also bought a 983t at the same time or myself. When you go yo scope it you can either use .22 rings for mounting the scope, or you can put regular bases on it and use regular Weaver type rings. They will use Weaver #12 bases on both the front and back. I think you have made a good decision with that rifle.
