Ok, so I have most always shot off a bench and not from the prone position. I find that I am less steady and comfortable in the prone vs the bench. I have re watched all the training videos on prone... but they do not seem to address the proper shoulder height.

When I raise my bipod and elevate my shoulders, I am more comfortable behind the rifle. But less steady due to my chest now being off the ground. This also puts strain on my neck after a while from holding my head and shoulders up.

When I lower the bipod and lower my shoulders, I am more steady but less comfortable behind the rifle. My chest is on the ground but I feel like I am trying to look through my eyebrows through the scope. If I pick my head up more for better sight picture my neck is in heavy tension.

It feels like I want to lay my chest down on a pillow to give me a little more shoulder elevation for better neck and back alignment behind the rifle. With out the pillow it feels like my shoulders and chest are resting on my elbows when comfortable (but do not think this is correct).

From the bench I am straight back behind the rifle (behing the bench not in the cutout). My chest is resting up against the bench allowing my shoulders/elbows to relax and support the rear stock. In prone I just can't seem to get this same type steady feeling. I have a KRG W3 rear stock and have been playing around with the adjustments but just can't seem to find the sweet spot.

Do I just need more time to figure it out or is there something I am missing? I am trying to find that spot like I see in videos where guys like Frank or Phil seem to be relaxed. No pressure on the elbows (moving them around to load mags and put them into the rifle) all while the rifle stock remains set in their shoulder.

There's no real proper way. Improper would be whatever doesn't work. This is why it's good to have an adjustable cheek piece and an adjustable butt stock for length of pull, butt pad height and cant.

I think Frank said it this way, you know how you see kids laying down in front of TV with their elbows on the ground head resting on their hands ... that.

You'll have to lay down and find out where you're most comfortable and then adjust the rifle as necessary.
