I was able to purchase a Vortex Razor Gen III yesterday and went over to Geissele's website to look at the various mounts and ... got confused very quickly. I know I need one for the 34mm tube of the Gen III, but beyond that...not sure what their various "hyperextended" and so forth mean, further, can I use an AR-10 mount on my AR-15 (It is a Geissele Super Duty).

Need some help sorting out the nomenclature.

Under Super Precision® - AR15 / M4 Scope Mounts I read thee options:

What are the differences between "standard, extended and hyperextended" and which one would you use on the Razor Gen III.

Under Super Precision AR-10 mounts, they have one in the color I want, but it comes only in standard and hyper extended. Can I use this with my AR-15 and the Vortex Rzr Gen III LPVO?

Then they offer a mount made specifically for the Vortex Razor 1-6 Gen II Super Precision® - SOPMOD Certified Vortex 1-6 Scope Mount, 30mm For AR-15 Platform

Thanks for the assist.

Geissele mounts are awesome, better clarify before all the hate! I'm sensitive! so to the Scalarworks...nothing to add here sorry. Just get the extended & be done with it!

Ar-15 specific mounts lugs are closer together so the mount can sit farther forward on the upper receiver.

Heres the simple....

Ar10 mounts have a wider span on the base locks... they are intended for the longer upper receiver of an ar10 or can also be used on a monolithic ar15 receiver. Do NOT place one part of the mount on an ar15 upper receiver then the other on the handguard.

Standards, extended, hyper simply means how much cantilever. How forward the optic will sit. If your shoot nose to charging handle you may want extended. Hyper is for very specific setups that you don’t need. Standard works for most if you don’t have nose to charging handle but naturally sit a little behind.

Scalarworks....just teasing!
Why teasing? I got one from CS Tactical with a v1-10. Gucci price but the design is awesome. It’s more a tool-less mount than QD. I’d buy another without giving much thought.

What am I missing? Did hilllary Clinton start the company or something?

The OP specifically asked about Geiselle. Buford recommended Scalar Works. Could be considered something of a dick move.

I run an ATACR 1-8 in the Scalarworks, love it. Great mount where tool less is desired. I'm also partial to the badger condition one. OP asked about Geiselle, I said Scalarworks...wasn't trying to imply anything. Geiselle are beautiful, they've been hard to get as well.OP was asking standard, extended, hyper etc... Scalarworks offers different heights 1.57, 1.93 etc... Simpler? Wasn't trying to be a dick...well
