PRS Rimfire Zero

I zero at 30. It more closely mimics the reasons we use 100yd zero in centerfire. Closer so wind doesn’t matter as much, and all my dialing is up.

I use AB with DSF to true my data.

You’ll find people use 25, 30, 35, and 50 yd zeros with success.

32meter, this gave me the longest zero distance with a maximum of 2mm hold under occurring.

But it really doesn't matter, I've used 23m, 25m, 28m, 30m, 40m and 50m over the years sometimes out of necessity and other times trying sometimes different, so long as you have a good zero and drop tables/data that is accurate you will likely be dialing 99% of your shots anyway, or at least dial in the first shot and hold from there.

50 yd zero. There is enough vertical adjustment for closer distances. Trajectory is only 0.4” maximum at 35 yds so you could even hold dead on for most targets inside the 50 yd zero.

Vertical isn’t what we are worried about.

I routinely notice .2 of horizontal difference from day to day and range to range when using 50. I rarely see this with 30yd zero.

39y, because that’s the range where the bullet path meets line of sight only once (for my rifle/ammo).

With the proliferation of ballistic computers and hold over reticles, it’s counter-intuitive (IMHO) to zero at a range where you end up with bullet path crossing line of sight twice, and you get the resultant hold-UNDER ranges.

Nobody does this with centerfire, why are we doing it with rimfire...?

100y isn’t used for centerfire because it’s an easy to remember round number... it’s because it results in 1 zero and no hold unders.

But for some reason the 25, 50, etc lives on in rimfire.

Why not 23y, or 56y, or 71y?

Max PBR would be the exception, but most aren’t doing it for that reason.

I zero at 50y with Lapua CX subsonics. This is also zeroed at 25y which is convenient. Hits 25 on the way up and 50y on the way down. At 35 it is about 1/2 mil high and due to scope/bore difference it is about 1/2 mil high at 15y also. Out past 50 I use the Strelok Pro app to figure drop and windage. This is tweaked for my rifle.

25, 37, 50 doesn't really matter if you can zero day of then whatever they have available works just fine

sure some of those distances might have a down dial but whats .2mil inside 50y. nothing compared to target height. it's barely a bullet diameter
