I shoot USPSA Production pistol...but have the desire to shoot PRS Tactical Division with .308. I feel I'm leaning toward a Tikka T3X TAC A1 or getting a Tikka T3X CTR and a Manners PRS1 built for the Tikka. The Bravo Havak appeals to me as well. When getting into this what is the best way to delve in? Im very convinced I will stick with it BUT I'd like to buy a rifle setup that can expand if I learn well enough. Barrel length recommendation? I do have the luxury of living close to Ben Avery Range here in AZ. Any other platforms I should look at too?

Hey I’m from AZ too! I am by no means the most experienced prs shooter, but from what I know, and others have echoed the same, a rifle that will hold between 1/2 and 1 moa will be enough to get started. Any of the rifles you have mentioned should work just fine, and all 3 will allow room to grow.

Personally, when starting out I attended a local gas gun match and solidified my interest. I was considering many of the options that you are and ended up going a different route. I decided to pick up a barreled action Deep South Tactical. They are selling a trued and blueprinted rem 700 action with Bartlein barrels for $1000. You can then pick up a better trigger, stock/chassis, scope base/rings, etc from the PX. I ended up just shy of $2000, but have something that is exactly what I wanted. That said, buying a factory rifle will be the simpler (for now) option, though more expensive in the long term (assuming you start wanting to change things like the barrel, chassis vs stock, etc).

I think you will find that Ben Avery is of little use beyond zeroing the rifle and maybe load development. I’m going to be shooting in the desert much more now that the weather is cooling down. Cowtown Range also has a fantastic facility, though it is primarily a membership range.

Again, I’m sure that there are much more qualified people on here that can chime in, but this is just my $0.2 based on my experience so far.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! You've given me a few more ideas on options to rundown!

Thanks again.
