Range Report Prvi Partizan 338 Lapua - Range Report

Re: Prvi Partizan 338 Lapua - Range Report

250gr full metal jacket, I see Graf & Sons is carrying it but they are sold out of it and the price is not bad. Just want to know if it is worth purchasing or not. If the cases are good enough for reloading also. I use their 168gr BTHP match in my 308 and it groups pretty well. I purchased a case of 308 and the lot numbers were all the same.

Re: Prvi Partizan 338 Lapua - Range Report

I will confirm what Green has said. I also noticed just under 2MOA at 100y with my TRG42. Was disappointed to say the least. When I investigated further, I did notice that most of the projectiles on the remaining round I have left measure .333 and not .338. If thats enough a difference to point a finger at then there ya go. This same gun just shot a 1/4MOA grp at 400m with Hornady 285gr match factory ammo.
(edit - I dont have a chrono so I dont know variability of velocities with them)

I am not a fan and have some left over....interested?

Re: Prvi Partizan 338 Lapua - Range Report

Also, in case anyone is thinking of reloading the Prvi cases:

Prvi 338 LM Cases: Weight ~345.1 grains, Vol ~114.3 grains of H2O
Lapua 338 LM Cases: Weight ~335.2 grains, Vol ~113.2 grains of H20.

So the Prvi cases are a bit heavier, and slightly more overall internal volume.

I too got around 1.5 MOA in a TRG-42.

Well someone already mentioned that they arent great for reloading. Does heavier and more volume mean anything in particular?

Heavier and more volume.. I tend to think that means the brass itself is denser. Brass is made of copper and zinc, and copper is the more dense of the two, so I suppose it would have a higher % of copper than Lapua. I also think copper is softer (more malleable). I'll be honest, I don't know. Just a guess.

Re: Prvi Partizan 338 Lapua - Range Report

Just curious mostly what Nand meant when he posted it...or what some reloaders think of the data. I have some spent prvi brass and would like to know if I should even think about using it to reload or not.
