I bought this rifle storage rod system made by Liberty Safe, and just wanted to advise people to becarful to make sure they remove the rod from the barrel before they put the rifle in the case and head to the range. I made a mistake yesterday that could have cost me big. I went to the range yesterday and didn't realize I didn't pull the rod out of my rifle when I removed it from the safe. One reason (other than me being a dumb ass) is the outside diameter of my muzzle brake is about the same as the end of the rod which is black same as the muzzle brake. I had everything setup getting ready to get down behind the rifle and the gentleman next to me struck up a conversation so I was standing behind the rifle talking to him and noticed something didn't look right about the muzzle brake from behind and standing up it it looked like it had a extra baffle and that's when it hit me so I pulled it out and thanked the gentleman for keeping me from shooting because if it hadn't been for standing up talking to him I would have never noticed it. I know this has gotten long, but those damn things should be orange or yellow not black especially for dumbasses like me!
Added some pics to show just how easy it could be over looked..........
Look how closely the outside diamter is to the muzzel brake.
This is with the view from behind with the rod left in.
And thanks to KSE's idea I won't be a dumbass anymore....LOL
