My understanding is that the 7.62x51 chambering is made to withstand NATO pressures, i.e. a max 50,000 psi. Whereas .308 chambered rifles are built to withstand up to 60,000 psi.
If that is true, how safe or otherwise is it to fire a .308 cartridge (eg. FGMM 168gr or 175gr) through a 7.62x51 chambered rifle like the LWRC REPR or POF P308 MRR?
Any insight would be most appreciated. Thanks.
