Hi all,

I'm rather new here, there seem to be a lot of different people with different backgrounds, so maybe someone can help.

I have had psoriasis for twenty years or so, mostly controlled with topicals, occasionally with cortisone injections and two years or so ago I was put on embrel injections.

With the embrel I was getting blood work done quarterly and all was good, I cleared up very well almost totally. I got off the embrel and went back to topicals. Everything was good for about 9 months. Then I had a major breakout and had to work realy hard with the topicals to keep it in control, it's OK but I have two swollen sore joints in my feet, on on each foot. Small toe on one foot, third toe on the other Metatarsus to phalange joint on both. Is going back on embrel my only choice? Anything else working for anyone out there.

Thanks

Look at cutting out wheat and corn. Works for me, reduces my joint pain dramatically when I do this. I have some psoriasis on nails, but osteoarthritis.

Cheers, Chris

Wheat and corn, check. That's not going to be easy but if I can get this swelling and soreness to subside it will be worth it.

How long before I could start seeing results?

Thanks for the input,

Garett

+2 to rockdoc, and while you're at it, eliminate every single trace of every kind of wheat ingredient, including potato starch, rice, quinoa, corn starch, etc. That shit is fucking bad news crap, especially for folks with psoriatic arthritis.

You should start seeing results within a couple of weeks. Weight will decrease too.

I have two wrecked knees from osteoarthritis and larger arthritic toe joint which makes me very careful which boots/ shoes I can wear. My knees I have had a couple of arthroscopies and then high tibial osteotomies (google "tomofix" will give you an idea), still have plate in left leg needs to come out.

I am certain none of this would have happened if i had known about wheat etc sooner. I still have problems with joint pain if I eat wheat, as I travel lots it is hard to avoid sometimes. As soon a i avoid wheat the pain goes away.

Let us know how you progress. Wheatbelly is a good book, I also try and follow The Blood Type Diet, which is where i found relief and knowledge to begin with, at one of their stores in Singapore, I was having loads of problems including gastric reflux. Go with sticking to the diet and avoiding wheat and corn.

Cheers, Chris

My wife and sister in laws are the same way. My wife is just joint pain. One sis in law has psoriasis as well the other is just like my wife just older and worse arthritis. Don't get me wrong, i'm not usually into "voodoo" but I have seen this scenario repeatedly. The only problem is sticking to it. The wheat thing definitely works for lot of people. I have personally not seen the same effect with corn. Raw refined sugars are a definite no go. My wife tolerates fructose a lot better. The biggest thing I see is a supplement she buys one of the super green food supplements ( I can check the brand when I get home if you want it). She swears by this stuff. Green powder taste like dirt. Supposedly this particular brand is just desiccated veggies never heated above 104 degrees. She has tried others that haven't worked. I have seen the effects first hand in here functionality in the am and small joint swelling in her hands. Not saying this works for everyone but conventional meds really suck for RA and Psoriatic arthritis. One sis in law is now on methotrexate but she refuses to make lifestyle changes. Pick your poison (literally). I love bread and sugar but if meant going on Embrel or methotrexate I would definitely try the above first!
Just my 2cents. Good luck.

Re: psoriatic arthritis? anyone working with it?

Thanks for all the help guys. I have been watching my diet for a few weeks now and the joint pain is lessening, but my psoriasis is getting worse. I'm giving it a week more, I may have to got back to the doc. I don't like that idea but...having sores all over all summer is not any fun at all.

Still sticking with it,

Garett
