Wondering if anyone here has any experience with the PTG Actions. I’ve used their bolts before but noticed that they are producing their own actions now and wanted to see how they stack up.

    Which one exactly? Link it
The blueprinted 700? I have one from when they were 400 bucks, it’s fine and exactly like a rem 700 with a ptg bolt.
The rebranded Stiller’s? No but it’s a Stiller so it’s fine
The new one they came out with? Haven’t heard anything good or bad.

I have that one on my AICS 300wm, but they weren’t offering fluting yet. Nice tight tolerances for a Remington. Smooth and precise. So far I’m enjoying it, even though I don’t really shoot Remys anymore.

I'd pass and go with the APR gen2 action with the intro price or look for the Gunwerks action if they're still on sale. The APR action is $725 +/- for the intro price with a lot more features.
Thanks man I’ll check it out. I’m looking at building my 11 yr old daughter a Wrong Handed 6mm. Nothing to crazy. She doesn’t need a Defiance yet LOL, A trued up Remmy, 18.5 - 20” Proof CF tube with brake, etc. Starting to brain storm on it now and looking at some options.

I still feel the APR action would be of better value in the long term vs the PTG action. The APR uses savage small shank threads and opens it up for the abundance of pre-fit options, including the ones from Proof, both CF and steel.

Edit: Just looked and the APR may actually come out cheaper since it comes with the lug and scope base. Didn't see if for the PTG action.

Good call. I checked out the APR. Good looking actions for sure. I’m gonna look at the Defiance Rebel line of actions too.

If you're ordering it blued with a fluted bolt it is $694.99. Similar to above, I'd buy a savage prefit and take the savings and spend it to get the big horn origin instead ($130 more than the PTG).

I talked to ptg a month ago or so when the b-52 and b-12 actions were on sale for around $550. I should have bought one of the b-52 actions I wanted. According to a brittney at ptg the b-52 and b-12 actions are both machined completely in house at ptg and are based on the Stiller action body. My buddy has one of the b-52 actions and I liked it well.

I'd catch the rem 700 on sale for under $300. Here's my junky rr prefix $296 bone stock 700 action with a criterion barrel and zero load development. 6 consecutive shots at 100. 870 is as far as I've had it and it's sub there also. If I was gonna spend more that 300 I'd get a Origin and throw a barrel on it. Don't know how cheap your wanting to go but just thought I'd try to help out.

Ya I did a remage .224 Valkyrie with a criterion and I’m pretty impressed. That’s damn impressive though....I’d like to do a custom switch barrel with the WTO recoil lug and with all that said I think a stock action won’t be best for this one......I’ve found a place that sells trued/blue printed rem actions and a person can get more done but by that time the origin still is on top for price, versatility, ect.

The b-12 was just a thought and I had made another damn thread before I found this one, this one seemed to have more hands on experience with the action in question.
