Well guys after months of research I've decided to build a custom 6.5 creedmoor. I ordered the action, stock, and barrel yesterday. ETA is 4-6 months.
Here's my build...I just have a few loose ends to tie up:
ACTION: Defiance Deviant Medium extra length target port with heavy tang, shallow fluting, standard bolt knob
BARREL: Bart Standard Target #5 contour 1.2-.80 6.0lb
STOCK: Manners T5A with mini-chassis inletted for deviant action, 10 round mag, atlas rail & adjustable butt spacer painted in solid desert earth
TRIGGER: Jewell trigger
BIPOD: Atlas
BRAKE: ??? Can anyone recommend one? Looking for something to prevent dust/sand from being kicked up when shooting in the desert.
All I need to find now is a time machine and a good smith to barrel the action, chop the barrel to 24", thread and time a brake, and Cerakote it.
As far as assembly goes I was told by Manners that I should be able to drop the barreled action in the stock and be GTG without any bedding....just torque a couple of bolts. My only concern with the build is if the trigger is a DIY install?
