Anyone have any hands on time between the two? I know they're both new units but there are plenty of people out there that have been testing these for the manufacturers. I'm sure people were able to take a gander at them during Shot Show as well.

I'm really waffling between the two as I can't really decide which one is the "better" buy.

I like the idea of the Pulsar core not being Chinese as the future for Chinese products is somewhat sketchy. Iray could be here today, gone tomorrow but I doubt that.

In case anyone is curious. Use case right now is Hog hunting, 300 yards and in.

My buddy has the new Pulsar XL60 and I have the Nocpix Ace 50R and I feel mine is more clear. Better animal recognition etc. we went hunting the other night and it started raining. We had to quit because he couldn’t see out of his thermal. Mine was still clear with no issues. I know they are Chinese made, but I wouldn’t let that bother you. I haven’t got to personally put my hands on the S60, but the Ace 50R is all you need and could save you some money. The issue is finding one in stock. They are extremely hard to get your hands on because a lot of people wants one!

Can you define "clear" for me?

I've yet to look through a 1024 resolution sensor so the fact that you're saying your 640 outpaced the Pulsar, higher resolution sensor is pretty awesome. That's probably a testament to Nocpix's programming which is apparently really damned good.

Well you gotta remember that the resolution is built off the lowest magnification. The Low for the XL60 is 2.5 and the NOCPIX is 3.0. I would much rather have a 3.0 lower base mag then I would a 2.5. I don’t know how many resolutions it’s losing by the time it gets to 3.0 let alone like 5x. My buddy literally couldn’t hardly see anything out of his. Not sure what it looked like. I didn’t look through it.

ive looked through the 50R and that 640 at 3x then having the magnifier that takes you to x6 while keeping the full 640 is the cats ass. I will be getting one, unless i can look through the 12 what ever it is S60

That's actually one of my hang ups with the H50R.

I'm a little leery of the 3X base mag for the types of hunting that I do. I generally prefer lower magnification for a wider field of view. Hmmmm!

The other option to consider is the Tx60C (which is on sale)... 1024x1024 sensor 3x base mag but did you see the field of view??! It's 11.4 x 11.4 degrees! The Nocpix H50r is 8.8 x 7.0... for the SAME 3x base mag. So the Tx60C is really something special. It's unfortunate b/c the ILR-1200 LRF I see from a handful of people on FB pages is finicky with connection otherwise I would jump on that b/c the TX60C comes w/ a free LRF right now during the $5999 sale. FYI the nocpix h50r is in stock at a few retailers right now. I just saw them in stock online.

I was considering the Pulsar XL60 b/c it's got a HUGE eye box and large screen but with the S60r coming out albeit smaller base mag (but with ocular zoom) at the same price, I'm 75% sure I'm heading in that direction instead of Pulsar. I'm currently running a Pulsar XG50 and the eye box and screen is minuscule in comparison.

The bolt is not on my radar because I really dont like how the laser is external, ie not integrated. I too have heard really bad things about its connectivity.

One of the things that i'm looking for is a wide or at least apparent wide field of view, decent eye relief and what appears to be a decent enough "eye box".

I have to suck right up next to my NOX35 to get any kind of decent image out of it.

What you said is pretty interesting and has me interested in the Pulsar again lol! Damnit. I WAS leaning heavily towards the Ace line due to image quality which is supposed to surpass the Pulsar offering by quite a bit.

I was actually leaning towards the H50R but the stats you listed above are giving me pause.

Yeah man, I’m constantly going back and forth between the xl60 and the s60r. But $7k is not an easy decision considering in a year there will be better optics out there lol. Dang thermal industry… fwiw I did briefly talk to some of the retailers and their field staff (whom aren’t committed to one optic), and he uses the XP60 in very humid Texas and loves the XP60. Doesn’t have ID issues and can certainly eliminate lots of pigs and yotes.

I do appreciate the thermal industry in that most of the reps are pretty awesome about giving fairly objective opinions.

The Youtube reviews however, are almost useless. Everyone is being paid or given something. It's really hard to get good information.

For that price, I'd look at the Nvis Halo X50 or XRF and be content with a great scope that uses top of the line BAE gut's that performs in every type of weather condition.
Fixed focus, so you can focus on the target instead of focusing the scope.
Made right here in America too, Brilliant.

No interest in the Nvision products.

I have a Nox35 that is great for what it is but it's lagging behind in features.

I also want a tube style optic, not a giant box for my bolt guns. Just personal preference.

Totally agree.... Nvision is so incredibly behind the times. LOL.... I mean they are in the Stone Age of thermal tech at this point. Speaking of which this guy did a comparison between the XRF and S60R.... you would have to be blind to choose the XRF over the S60R LOL no offense to the Nvision fans.

I looked through the XRF and it's got such a tight small eye box it's miserable to use in comparison to the new scopes.

Great video link. Thank you.

The difference there is gigantic...

For the same money, you're getting a really advanced product versus something that is yesteryears technology. Is it reliable and does it work? Sure, but I want the latest and greatest that carries the same warranty as Nvision.
