Went out to Custer today and did my first PRS style rimfire match that was non NRL22, which means any gear goes. I've only had my NRL22 setup, so just MFC and Rear Bag, and a Bipod. Everyone else here had pump pillows and tripods and any gear went. So now I'm researching pump pillows and tripod setups...

From watching youtube vids, I see a lot of people running Wiebad Pump Pillows. I have no idea if it's a one-size-fit-all or if I should get a modular one.

If I get the modular one, do I just buy their bags (like 5 of them) then I take out a bag at a time, or do I just buy my own poly fill stuffing and muck with it that way?

Thanks in advance for any tips. This sport is a ton of fun. Was great to shoot today and see all the different variety of barricades and CoF that's much different than a standard NRL22.

I own both. I’d probably stick with the regular. Otherwise, you’ll end up needing a bunch of fill bags.

But, truth be told, you really don’t need anything other than a fortune cookie and/or mini cookie. Most of the time I only use the pillow one stage a match. And probably 50% of those stages I end up not using it once on the prop.

Same here. I use a Gamechanger for most everything, and only need a Fat Bag or dedicated rear bag 1-2 stages per match. I still carry both, though, as they're light and I can just hang the Fat Bag off my pack.

same here I do have the modular pump pillow and keep my rain gear and hat/gloves as fill. its not ideal, is lumpy, probably a little heavier too.

Been finding the same thing - but also that it wouldn't hurt if the pump pillow were, say, 50% longer. There's a medium height situation I keep running into where it wouldn't hurt to have something to soak up some space, but the pump pillow isn't quite big enough to do it. Mostly, I don't use it, though. I've been taking an OG Game Changer, a pint sized Game Changer, and a Pump Pillow with me... and rarely use anything other than the pint sized GC. I haven't used one, but I'd guess the Whiskey Charlie MFC (mini fortune cookie, waxed canvas, heavy fill) would totally get it done, too...

Agree, the pump pillow / fat bag, yesterday with the 7 stages, I think only 1-2 of them it was useful. But it still means getting a few more points on those stages. I could borrow one during the match, but it'd be good to have one at home to practice.

Yeh the fill bags are 13 each, I think the regular comes with 5 bags in it maybe? So modular + 5 bags, is only $10 more I think.

I use the WC MFC for most everything. And I carry a light fill regular cookie that I use as a rear bag and such. The mini WC cookie is a little short for me using as a rear bag.

Interesting. I use the pint sized GC as a rear bag pretty much 100% of the time (unless it's a low shooting position that's a little too tall for it, which is rare - I'm usually kneeling at that point). The geometry between the two bags is a little different, though, so I could see that.
