Night Vision Pvs-14 weapon mount need help

I've got an issue with the standard weapon mount on my pvs 14. I mount it in front of a vortex 1-6 viper pst and it sits off to one side about 3/32 of an inch. Scope is sitting in an American defense recon mount. I used this same setup religiously with the same scope in the vortex cantilever mount (non quick release) and it worked fine, only when I switched mounts to the ADM did I start having this problem. Is the standard pvs weapon mount known to be a little offset or do I have a bad mount from ADM? I always suspected the vortex mount I had originally to be off, it just never looked right to me but everything lined up and I had no problems stretching it out so I really had no reason to doubt it.
I'd like to get a new more robust mount for the pvs 14 anyway does anyone have any suggestions?

I have never tried to mount a 14 in front, so I have no idea, but I thought they weren't supposed to work well that way. Do you have any issues when you shoot?

I have a Larue mount for a 14, but it is designed to go behind an aimpoint. That is far from good too, but back in the day, people didn't know what they didn't know.

Yeah, uh, never heard of putting the 14 in front. I have a PVS 30 clip on and I know those are collimated so that they'll work right. You can zero and shoot this way? It's possible it worked last time because you had it "just right"? With the 30 it doesn't matter if it's off or if you can only see half of the front lens, if you can see green and a reticle, it'll work.

If you wanna put it in the back and go to a red dot, I have a Larue QD mount for the PVS 14 and a QD riser base for a red dot. The go together, the mount is small and stays on the PVS 14 and fits a small piece of rail in the back. EoTech or an MRO w/co-witness base (the middle one) or any sight with the dot at standard co-witness height will work. With an EoTech, it's about the closest you can get to a 1x NV sight. Just make sure the red dot has a NV setting because even 1 is too bright.

If you really wanna put it in the front you'd be better off with a CNVD (clip on night vision device). The PVS 30 is one I just got and is on sale right now for $4700, which is a hefty price but a steal when you consider they're $11,000+ new. Will work on a .50 too and it can go from weapon to weapon and zero won't change.

It works good as long as everything is lined up right. I've popped pigs out to a little over 100 yards with decent ambient light. If you can get any moonlight you're golden. It does take a little effort to focus it in but once you've got it it works good. I have a mount to attach it to the eyepiece of a riflescope, and this works also but it doesn't gather light as well looking through the scope. You need better moonlight or IR. Also, it only works with the low power straight tube scopes. I tried it with a Leopold vx-r 2-7 and it wouldn't focus.

Yes I can zero and shoot this way. Strangely enough I didn't have to change my daytime zero (until I changed scope mounts). No, it's not ideal but it does work once you get the whole setup focused. $4700 isn't bad for what you're getting with the 30, I've looked at them but I think I want a thermal first and that is in the works.

You can mount 14 in front IF the day optic is 1x AND you use the torrey optics pvs-14 collimating mount ... but that shucker has a shown price of $1,000 ... so I always found something else to do !!! :D If you really want one of those TP units, last I saw you could get them on BH Photo.

I also use the PRI M-69 ... very solid.

Yeah, I did not catch that the 14 was being used as a clip on, surprised no poi issues but hell if it works for ya I guess whatevs.

Anywho here's the pri, it is a solid mount as wig stated with nice adjustability for height. I've used it mostly messing behind an optic of sorts as a spotter when getting it on with some night range time with buddies.

Now putting PVS-14 BEHIND a scope works sort of .. though depending on the glass of the day scope ... the image can be pretty dark ...

I haven't done this is ages ... but here is one way ... pvs-14 on ring mount with 3x magnifier screwed on the 14 .. behind EOTECH RDS.

But I got worried about the recoil ... and don't do that any more ...

==

Another way is with the Night Optics "day / night" adapter ...

I use this method a lot these days, but not for shooting, only for co-witness lasers and illuminators ...
There are people that shoot with it like that, but I am not among them.

Here is the torrey pines collimating mount, which can be used in front of the day scope ... but again ... due to the design of the pvs-14 rear lens module, only 1x works on the day scope ... and the $1,000 price tag on this sucker is quite a turn off !

Yeah I'm not coughing up a grand for an add on. I'll just put that towards a thermal purchase. I think I'll pick up a PRI mount for my 14 and give it a shot for now. Be a handy piece to have around anyway.
