Night Vision PVS-22 & what Daytime Optics

Guys I see alot of fellas using Eotech's with the PVS-22's. So my question is what else are you guys using like Leupold's, NF's , Bushnells, etc... And what reticle setup and so on....

Trying to get a general idea what to look for when hunting hogs.. Any and all comments appreciated. BTW I am currently using a PVS-4 with L3 Gen 3 tube(smoking bright) that I may be parting with!! Hint hint!!

EO Techs with a Clip on will not work UNLESS you are using a day time 3X or 4X magnifier.

Generally Clip ons are designed to be used with (in front of) magnified optics of some sort. The PVS 22 works well on scopes up to 8X power but can be pushed to 10X.

For Hog Hunting your going to be shooting at shorter ranges so the MOST I would go would be a Leupold MRT in the 2.5 to 8 range. I would also suggest one of the smaller clip ons like the L3 PVS 24. If the 2.5 to 8 is too much a 1.5 to 5 might fit the bill.

To Recap Clip Ons with holographic red dots will not work well at real 1X, you will need to add some magnification.

You CAN use a PVS-22 with a 1x optic, but it will be like looking through a toilet paper tube. Not what you want at all for any kind of "heads up" use.

I use a 5-20x Vortex Razor HD with our PVS-22.

For a non-magnified optic, I would just bump it forward and run a PVS-14 behind it. You will save a TON of cash and be just as well off since you don't need the features of the PVS-22. You will alsp have a lighter and more versatile rig since you can head mount the PVS-14 and use a laser on the carbine later if you wish.

Understand, I don't hog hunt. I use my gear in a slightly different role.
